I think it just depends on how savvy the fans are. Alot of people at the H.S. games to not follow football to a great degree. NFL fans are often season ticket holders and really eat sleep and breathe their team.
do the rules of college and nfl apply to high school football. Be quiet then you team has the ball so they can hear the snap count and audible but be loud when the other team has the ball to disrupt their offense?
I have never seen it happen in HS football.

Its more common sense than anything. I hated when our band would play when we had the ball.
My first start was at Northwood and they had a dang good band at the time and it was a pain trying to call a play in the huddle and your cadence.
"Call me crazy, but I want to buy the Dallas Cowboys end zone and have the star right at the foot of my bed. That way when I score, I can spike the ball right on the star!" -Woody Paige, Around the Horn 10.9.08
it all comes back to my comment about if the fans need the crowd to be loud what is up with the players? I can only remember one time when I played ball when I heard the crowd, not because they were not there but because I was focused on playing,

I rarely heard the crowd as well, but when your the person trying to communicate, sometimes its difficult with the added noise.

DB's 20,000 member band plays the entire time their opponents have the ball. I remember them stopping the game at William Campbell in '94 because our band was playing when they had the ball.

Take em one at a time and everything else will take care of itself
i say play as loud as you can when your opponent has the ball,,,, and play 'softly, very softly' when your team has the ball,,, everyone talking about fan support,, and not 'cheering' enough,,, Your teams BAND can be a BIG "PLUS",, anything to distract your opponent...
